Gun show thoughts and reflections......

Went to the Oregon Trail Gunshow today in Redmond, Oregon.  Never been to one.  Couple things really stood out to me though.

MAIN THING THOUGH?  I was in a room with enough ammo and weapons to outfit a National Guard Batallion and nobody was threatened, nobody got hurt, nobody was uncivilized, there was no violence.....hell, even outside the door was the sign shown here.  Please notice the trust, individual responsibility and honor system that is in place with the instructions on the sign.  And those rules?  Were followed.  America isn't what you always see on TV or what liberals portray it as.

It didn't turn us into a bunch of gun-nut fanatics.  Nobody was talking about wanting to kill people or to off Dear Leader.  Hell, there was even a booth for people to learn the gun laws and get the proper permits so they are in compliance with all laws.

But anyways....the main thing I realized is that there are a few different reasons people go to a gun show, or should I say, a few different types of people that I noticed.

One was the hard-core gun aficionados who could talk about .  Others were those who were collectors.  Others still just trying to fund or add to a hobby.  Still others just looking for the tools to do what they need to.  And still others just learning or trying to stick to the basics.

But, despite all the variety, for the average person on the street who's only  looking to protect themselves, a gun show is a great place to pick up some protection from a private seller off of Obama's radar without a paper-trail so the Fourth Reich can come to your house and confiscate it.

My recommendations if you're going to buy a firearm for self defense?

1) Get something that's in a common caliber like a .22, .38, .380, .45, 12ga for example so the ammo is cheap and plentiful.  2) Get something that there's a million of out there so you can get parts cheaply and replace them as needed 3) Get what you need to do the job.  You don't need all the whistles and bells of a night fiber optic satellite predator drone guided scope (nice but not critical - I'm bidding on one on E-bay complete with my own F-22 strike squadron however - hope it doesn't go over $20 though!).

It was fun.  Got Jen a holster.  Didn't find the Super .38 ammo I wanted.  SOOOOOO now I'm going to look at converting a 1911 Super .38 to a  1911.45 ACP.  Also saw the .22 Cricket - a .22 bolt action rifle for kids.  Matthew's getting a .22 Rifle for his 7th Birthday.  In the meantime?  The gun show was GREAT for resources, but wayyyyyy over my head and out of my league with all the parts and such but maybe next time I'll know what I'm doing better.
