Okay - so I got this thinking it'd be a sweet spy novel - and instead - I get a book that's redacted by the department of defense, etc., a bunch of people more secretive than me. In other words, they took a black marker and highlighted all the really interesting stuff so you can't see it.
At any rate, if you can stand to read a book that's been redacted - or highlighted with a black marker - this might be the book for you! I really think if they want to draw your attention to stuff you might find interesting, whoever's in charge of purchasing the Departmend of Defense's office supplies - namely highlighters - needs to be fired. This kind of idiocy just gets in the way of progress. *sigh* Public education. Products of "no child left behind" I'm sure or some affirmative action policy who don't speak English.
Anyways, the department of defense BURNED 9,500 copies of the book at a cost of $47,000 or $5.00 per book because they deemed it to be too sensitive to be released to the public and forced other copies to be redacted. This just really pisses me off to no end. Seriously infuriates me. How the HELL did they get the book for $5.00 when I was paying well over $30 and now it's on sale on Amazon for like $15.20 new on the little advertisement thingy in my blog entry and it's only been a week since I ordered it? Still - the book does read a bit better than a Tom Clancy novel - except there's no sexy women in this one...none that I can discover yet. Maybe the really "interesting" and steamy women scenes are the ones some pervert highlighted with a black highlighter. Jerk.
Ah well - guess I'll just have to use my imagination. My wife just said "let's not."
