Here's another young lady who's currently at sea trying to circle the world in a sailing vessel solo. If you wish to follow her voyage, you can do so here. She's set to break the world record for youngest person to circumnavigate the globe solo.
I WOULD POINT OUT however, back in the 1800's and before, becoming a midshipman or even a captain of a sailing vessel or even a warship often happened before even age 20. Admiral David Farragut of the U.S. Navy received his first command of a ship in wartime at age 12.
