Texas is turning to reclaiming sewer water for its drought shortages - but a lot of people think that's absolutely gross! FWIW, on navy ships, we have sewage treatment that's so effective you can actually take a drink when it comes out the other end. Often at sea sewage goes overboard, but there are places and ports where you can't dump it or pump it ashore so purify it we do!
Often there's a line to be the first sailor to drink de-turded water when we switch over to purifying......just kidding.
At any rate, out at sea we have to make our own water anyways because you can't pack that much and have room for all you need, so we have a desalinization plant on board as well.
Maybe Texans would be more comfortable with just using sewage water for crop irrigation.....
