Kanu Nwankwo's Testimonial Match Holds Tomorrow

Kanu Nwankwo will be marking the end of his international football career with a Testimonial Match scheduled for tomorrow Saturday 11th of June 2011, at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

Footballers expected to honour him tomorrow as he says goodbye to international football are: Samuel Eto’o and Rigobert Song of Cameroon, Alex Song of Arsenal, Ghana’s Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari. Emmanuel Adebayor from Togo, Senegal’s El Hadj Diouf, Cote d’ Ivoire’s Didier Drogba, Yaya and Kolo Toure. Kanu’s Portsmouth team mate Aaron Mokoena, together with South African compatriot Siphiwe Tshabalala, are also expected to play.



Others are Kanu’s team mates from the great Ajax side of 1995 which won the UEFA Champions League- The De Boer twins, Frank and Ronald, Frank Rijkaard and Patrick Kluivert. Former World Footballer of the Year, Geroge Weah, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Lucas Radebe, Kalusha Bwalya, Hossam Hassan and other greats of the game have indicated intention to come to Nigeria.


Proceeds from this will the given to The Kanu Heart Foundation.
The foundation is a charity dedicated to providing treatment to Africans, especially children, living with heart related diseases. The foundation has successfully organized surgical operations on over 300 patients and has over 3000 diagnosed cases on the waiting list.
