*Embattled dictator Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has threatened to "burn all of Libya" if his people continue to turn against him.
*The anti-government protests in Libya have left thousands dead with security forces attacking protesters, using rocket propelled grenades, anti-aircraft guns and snipers.
*Gadhafi's supporters are reportedly conducting house-by-house searches and arrests. And according to some reports, they have even gone into hospitals to kill wounded opponents
*Gaddafi's son's comment to CNN. "We have a plan A, a plan B and a plan C. Plan A is to live and die in Libya. Plan B is to live and die in Libya. And plan C is to live and die in Libya.
*There's evidence to suggest that the dictator employed mercenaries from other African countries to fight the protesters in Libya.
*The official death toll in the violence remains unclear but a France top human rights official, said that it could be as high as 2,000 people killed.
*A lot of Gadhafi loyalist have turned against him overnight and the Govt has lost control of many cities in the counrty.
*Most of oil producing Eastern Libya is now under the control of protesters.
*There have been footages showing soldiers being carried on the shoulders of demonstrators after having reportedly turned against the government.
*The Libyan ambassador to the United States, Ali Suleiman Aujali, told CNN that he too has joined the opposition.
*Khamis Brigade, an army special forces brigade that is loyal to the Gaddafi family and is equipped with sophisticated weaponry, is currently still fighting anti-government forces.
*With the unrest in the country, about 170 workers are stranded at remote oil fields in the Libyan desert with food supplies running low and no way of getting to the capital.
*Thousands of foreigners have fled the country via chartered planes and warships.
*There has been a growing crisis of refugees, with 22,000 people having fled to Tunisia and a reported 15,000 to Egypt in the past few days.
*Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, was the first world leader to openly demand Gaddafi's ouster.
*Barack Obama, the US president, issued an executive order, seizing assets and blocking any property in the United States belonging to Gaddafi or his four sons.
*The European Union also agreed to impose an arms embargo, asset freezes and travel bans on Libya.
*Britain, France, Germany and the United States have drawn up a resolution which says the attacks on civilians could amount to crimes against humanity.
*The US has shut down its embassy in Tripoli and the White House said it would be introducing sanctions against Libya.
*Reporters covering the violent events in Al Baydaa, Libya, say the kindness and generosity of the Libyans towards them is humbling.
