SWEET!!!! GMC CORVETTE PLANT UPGRADED!!!

Okay, like the GM taking of the Obama spendulus government money and going from General Motors (Like General Electric?  General Mills?  General Hospital?  General Dynamics?  General Patton?) to Government Motors really ticked me off.

Let me tell you why it really destroyed my confidence in American excellence.

I worked for a tire company for a few years while I was saving money for my mission for the LDS church.  I worked for Les Schwab Tire Company.  (Read blog entry on it HERE).  Anyways, for a few years, I drove every single kind of car there was (mainstream mass produced mostly) and semi truck up through the year 2001 models.  And I will be honest....I couldn't tell the difference between a Ford Escort and a Pontiac Grand Am and a....well....pick something.  I finally decided in terms of quality for automobiles it would be either the Acura, the Honda or the Toyota for me in terms of value and quality.  Other than that....I didn't know why most automobile manufacturers really were in business.....what were they doing different that I'd need theirs over somebody else's?  Why cuz the coffee cup holder's in a better place?  Cuz the heater control knob is supreme above all others?  Speaking of cup - holders...I'll let Will Smith and Martin Lawrence comment on exotic cars and cup-holders (PG13).

Now in my time at Les Schwab, I had driven Ferrari's, Porsche's and a few other more exotic makes and models.  One Ferrari I drove/worked on had a custom after market radial engine in it....maybe it was a rotary engine.  Another had a V-12 I believe.  VERY nice.  But VERY expensive.  Until one day....in rolled something different that I got to drive. A Chevy Corvette C5. 

Having had a very successful career as a police officer having never lost a car chase, I could appreciate what a fine car with high performance capabilities could do.  Now the Corvette.....it handled VERY nicely.  Touch the gas and....well as Chris Matthews says...I got a tingle in my leg....but he gets excited over Obama....me...I can't ride Obama - don't wanna ride Obama and wouldn't even if I could.

NOW! I know that there are other cars way more exotic than the Corvette....but for me....in terms of balancing everything out, for what you pay - you really get a high performance car.  You can get a C5 for ~$30k.   I know, Mustang vs. Corvette.....well....the Mustang does have rear seats....totally over-rated. 

Something I like about the C5 (shown above) - if it is a dark color, has its headlights down with no plate on the front and a hard top it's virtually invisible to police radar and laser.  Kinda necessary if you got a car designed to purr along at over 100mph.

I don't have a Corvette, have never owned a Corvette.  My best was a 1991 Chevy Camaro RS....shown here....*sigh*.

ANYWAYS.....I'm supposed to (according to me) get a corvette for when I get my Ph.D. as my graduation gift to myself....or an Alumaweld jet boat.  But I was so ticked off at GMC for taking the Obamahandouts that I nearly bought a Mustang instead (in my heart in my mind in a future date) just cuz I can't stand socialism and - well - Ford didn't take Roosevelt's handouts way back when and knew better than to do it now......gotta go with the American entrepreneur......but since Chevy's making the talk about American Excellence and re-vamping its plant now - maybe I can forgive them and buy one of their cars after-all.  Oh and here's the news link to their plant thingy revamperage.
