In Luke 7 we see Christ struggling with something I see in our day that's rampant in our media, here he is speaking regarding the foolishness of the people and how they have rejected both Him and John the Baptist.
33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
34 The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
In otherwords, the people found fault with whatever happened, yet both men were prophets (and one the Son of God). The one lived an subsistence life in the wilderness (John) and the people said he was crazy! The other lived among the people of society and though he didn't sin, he enjoyed the food and drink of society, and people said he was a glutton, a friend of sinners.
It didn't matter to them what the message was - the message was the same - but despite their lives being near opposites, they found fault with both of them so you can see it wouldn't have mattered who was sent to them to warn them - they wouldn't have received them. It was a wicked generation. Two different types of prophets were sent to them preaching the same message (repent) and they found fault with them in both cases claiming they were essentially evil.
We can see that in the media even today, regardless of which side someone or something is on an issue, something is wrong no matter what is done, and truth is lost in the middle.
For example, if a conservative is rich, he's a friend of big business and the enemy, but if a conservative is poor, then they don't know enough of business to be in the game and are unqualified. Whereas if a liberal is rich, they bring influence and experience, but if they are poor, they bring an understanding of everyday people. You can't win, but this mentality has been around a long time.
