As a broke-college graduate working on more debt to pay for a doctoral degree, I have an application that requires a PDF format file to be filled out.
AAAAANNNNND guess what? Adobe's super expensive.
So I searched around and found an alternative that allows me to edit PDF files for free (and you can donate to them).
http://www.pdfescape.com/ is an online editor that allows you to upload files, download files, or convert online files.
I'm very happy with it. Oh, and it's free.

Another one I like is www.openoffice.org but PDF Escape works better with PDF for what I was trying to do with fewer steps.
