So you got Rick Perry who, much as I love it, talks and acts like a Texas Cowboy on the campaign trail talking about roughing up the Fed Chariman Bernake (which I wouldn't have a problem doing) - and you got Michelle Bachman out there calling DC "vile and corrupt" (which it is).

Historically, these types of campaigns and news headlines are just that - headlines.  Flash in the pan.

The other thing I've noticed is that while this may garner a lot of attention in the news...people need to note who the news focuses on and why and for what.  Knowing that the press is in love - hell - not even in the back pocket but right in the front of Obama underwear - these kinds of coverages may be exciting to be front news and it can go up to the candidate's head and make their knees wobble "Look mom! I'm in the news!" - it doesn't mean you're reaching voters or that its the coverage you want.  2012 is a long ways away still.  The same media which fawns over you to provide the coverage will turn and bite you later at the worst moment saying "Didn't you say.....YEAH....right here! We have the video....now just WHAT did you mean by that?"

Ultimately I think Perry might be popular down south but that kind of rough rhetoric talk not be looked upon as actual leadership in the Northeast to win voters.  That and those kinds of statements result in clarifications and retractions and backpedaling that doesn't lend towards showing leadership.

Michelle Bachman's rhetoric might be exciting but she still has to overcome being a female candidate.  Obama only broke down the issue of voting for black people born in Kenya. Sorry Herman Cain, love ya, but you're born in America.  You gotta overcome the black-people-born-in-America stereotype still on the campaign trail.

Mitt's gotta contend with his religion maybe depending on what's changed since 4 years ago.  But he's been through this before as well and keeping an even keel - making some headlines, while having a proven track record is going to carry further than tabloid type Jerry-springer lines.

This chocolate candy larvae has nothing to do with the election, but they are made in Japan and I thought it'd make a nice supplement to politics here.  Obama....the maggot!  Yeah.  It relates.
