WELL! I guess Arizona's not as messed up as we think it is and not as alone as people want to think it is. A small town of 1,700 or so in New York, Jackson, has made it a law that all business is to be conducted in English. Click here
THIS is what America is about. Federalism. The top (Obama) doesn't control everything. He's not supposed to. The constitution and constitutional federalism provides for these kinds of decisions that what can be taken care of on the local level gets taken care of on the local level by the local level. Arizona doesn't need to wait for the feds to do it. Neither does this town. This is the genius of the American constitution. Obama isn't in charge of parking tickets either. AND in the U.S. there are towns that REQUIRE you to have a gun (I believe that's in Idaho and Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota - I might have to move there).
Anyways, as you can guess, Obama has his undies in a knot and is squealing like a stuck pig via the ACLU and everybody else who screams "it's not fair!" Here's something to beware of in politics - anytime someone uses the word "Fair" you know somethings up. Who decides "fair?" Someone has to define "fair." And if it comes to a definition you know there's a lawyer or a government agency or a judge or a civil rights group lurking around the corner waiting to decide it for you. Fair is so subjective. Especially with liberals. And fairness isn't an American principle. Created equal and the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are American principles. "Fair" makes me cringe when I hear it in government because there's a lot of people who look back through history that didn't live through a lot of things yet think that stuff that happened a hundred years ago somehow entitles them and others to be given things or take things in the name of fairness.
